State Road 9 Lane Closure Between I-69 and Huntsville Starts Sept. 11

HUNTSVILLE –  E & B Paving plans to close one lane of southbound State Road 9 for pavement repairs between Interstate 69 and Huntsville Road starting on or after Monday, Sept. 11. The alternating lane closures are expected to last about two weeks. One lane of southbound State Road 9 will remain open through the construction zone.

The $4.6 million construction project is modernizing a variety of infrastructure between Interstate 69 and Huntsville Road. Major features of the project include repairing and resurfacing pavement, replacing a box culvert at Prairie Creek, and adding left turn lanes and installing new traffic control signals at Huntsville Road.

At least one half of the project is expected to be complete this year. Traffic is shifted to share one side of the roadway while construction is completed one-half at a time. After work on the west half of the roadway is complete, traffic will be shifted to that side and construction will be finished on the east half. All work on the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2018.
