Police Investigate Fayette County Jail Death

Police NewsConnersville, Indiana – Pendleton District Investigators were called to the Fayette County Jail this evening reference the death of an inmate. Around 5:30 p.m. this evening inmates and jail staff found an inmate unresponsive in his cell. Medical staff at the jail attempted to revive him, but was unable to do so.

The inmate, Michael Green, age 44 of Connersville, was pronounced dead by the Fayette County Coroner. Green had been incarcerated at the Fayette County Jail since July 23rd for Burglary.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Green took his own life. An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death will be conducted tomorrow, as the investigation is ongoing. Questions about the autopsy results should be directed to Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

    It’s a shame if this young man took his own life as he has
    children and had a lot to live for. I’ve known him for about
    10 years.
