Open Enrollment: Family Health Care and Education Night

Fall Enrollment Opens with Service Event

ANDERSON, IN – Madison County’s Covering Kids & Families Coalition and other partner organizations are launching the open enrollment period for the federal Marketplace with a Family Health and Education Night at Anderson Public Library Wednesday, November 1, 4 – 7 p.m. Free assistance with healthcare enrollment on the Marketplace and for state public plans will be available.

Additional services include energy, Christmas, financial, educational and employment assistance.  Free flu shots will be available from 4-6 p.m. while supplies last through a partnership with Walgreens and Familywize. Event sponsors are United Way of Madison County, the local sponsor for Covering Kids & Families (CKF), along with Ivy Tech Community College and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. Other participating organizations include Anderson Impact Center, Anderson University, Excel Center, Head Start, Indiana WIC, INvested, Purdue Polytechnic, THRIVE Network, WorkOne and The Salvation Army. There will be door prizes throughout the evening.

Fall is open enrollment time for employer coverage and the federal Marketplace. This year the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) will also have a time during which enrollees can change their plans. “Healthcare coverage – insurance – can be confusing for consumers. We want Madison County residents to know help is available,” states Karen Hemberger, Vice President of Impact for United Way of Madison County and Director of the local CKF Coalition that is focused on helping people understand and sign up for Indiana and federal healthcare coverage programs.

To enroll in a health plan, individuals must provide social security numbers, birth certificates and proof of income.
