Mayor announces 2018 street paving projects for the City of Anderson

ANDERSON, IN – Mayor Thomas J. Broderick, Jr. announced today the 2018 street paving projects for the city of Anderson. The mayor stated that the Board of Public Works would be requested by City Engineer Mike Spyers to set a date of April 24 to accept bids for the projects that will be undertaken by contractors. It is expected that the contract paving will cost approximately $1.7 Million. The mayor explained that approximately $400,000 of the paving will be done in-house by the Anderson Street Department.   The projects will include 44 streets, as well as select alleys, with a total approximately cost of $2.1 million.

The paving, subject to the weather and the bidding process, is expected to begin in early May and is planned to be finished before the end of the year. The project will cover approximately 11 miles.

Mayor Broderick said, “It has been our goal to pave streets every year. Because Indiana weather is tough on our streets, it is important that we stay on top of the roads annually to keep them safe for travel.”
