Madison County Crash Claims One LifeMadison County – Tonight around 6:50 p.m. Trooper Jacob Ridgway was driving west on SR 38, just east of Markleville, when in the 3500 block he observed a semi pulling a box trailer in front of him stopped in the west bound lane. As he got closer he realized the semi was backing up and across the east bound lane into a driveway on the south side of SR 38.

As the truck and trailer backed across the east bound lane of SR 38, an east bound 2015 Ford Fusion, driven by Mylinh Humfleet, age 73 of Markleville, struck the side of the trailer running partially underneath it. Mylinh Humfleet was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Anderson where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the semi, David Reeves, age 36 of Anderson was uninjured. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Trooper Ridgway is investigating the crash and is being assisted by Crash Reconstruction Investigator Trooper Hanna. Troopers at the scene were assisted by ISP Sergeant Bob Cross, Madison County EMA and EMS; the Madison County Sheriff’s Department and the Anderson Fire Department.
