State Police Release Statistics from
April Move Over Patrols
Pendleton: Lt. Kevin Rees,
Commander of the Pendleton Post, has
announced the results of the April
move over patrols that were held
throughout the Pendleton District.
The patrols were directed toward
motorists who failed to move over or
reduce speed for stopped emergency
vehicles. On July 1, 1999 Indiana
became the first state in the
country to pass the move over law.

The move over patrols were held in
Madison, Hamilton, and Hancock
counties. A bill board is posted
around Indiana depicting the mangled
Indiana State Police car of Sergeant
Richard Kelly, Lafayette Post, who
miraculously survived after his
police car was struck when he had a
motorist pulled over. This summer
troopers will be continuing to
enforce the move over law as the
construction season begins.
