Investigation Turns Up Stolen Equipment And A Meth Lab

Hudson Tool Rental of New Castle had reported a Bobcat construction tractor had been rented by two men on Friday 2/24 and not returned

Henry County, Indiana – Hudson Tool Rental of New Castle reported a Bobcat construction tractor had been rented by two men on Friday 2/24 and not returned. Troopers Nate Raney and Brandon Steffee started an investigation which led them to a warehouse in Muncie Wednesday night where they located the Bobcat tractor and a suspect who was stripping the tractor preparing to repaint it.

The investigation eventually led them to a house at 759 South CR 250 East in Henry County yesterday. While there interviewing a second suspect materials used in the manufacture of meth could be seen in plain view. Further investigation turned up the toxic chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Arrested at the home was Joshua Pope, 37, of New Castle. He was charged with Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Class “B” Felony, and Theft, Class “D” Felony. Also arrested at the home was the homeowner, Stacy Mills, 49, for Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class “D” Felony and Possession of Hypodermic Needles, Class “D” Felony.

The investigation is continuing, and further arrests could follow. Members of the Meth Suppression Unit were at the house for hours removing the toxic chemicals. Often times Meth Labs are found as a result of an anonymous tip from a neighbor or friend. Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous. The Indiana Meth Investigation System or IMIS, can also take tips on meth labs. Just go to www.meth.in.gov and click on the “Report Suspected Meth Activity” Link.
