Former Muncie City Court Deputy Clerk Arrested on Felony Theft Warrant

Police NewsMuncie, Indiana – An investigation that was begun back in February of this year culminated in the arrest this morning of a former Deputy Clerk for the Muncie. Former Muncie City employee Misty D. Buck, age 30 of Muncie, was arrested this morning on a warrant for one county of Theft, Class “D” Felony, and one count of Deception, Class “A” Misdemeanor.

The investigation began in February of this year when Judge Dianne Bennington contacted the Indiana State Police reference discrepancies found in the accounting for fines paid to the court. Investigator Scott Jarvis, along with personnel from the Indiana State Board of Accounts began an investigation.

The investigation revealed approximately $11,000 of cash payments made to the court had not been deposited into the appropriate accounts. Further investigation identified former clerk Misty Buck as the suspect in the missing funds. The case was turned over to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office for review. After the prosecutor’s review a felony warrant for Buck was issued.

Buck had been employed in the Clerk’s Office previously before being laid off. She was rehired during the summer of 2011. The investigation revealed the thefts began soon after her rehire. Mrs. Buck was fired from the Clerk’s Office before the investigation began in February.
